East Bay Manufacturing Summit – Reserve your spot today for the East Bay Manufacturing Summit, taking place on Tuesday, October 29 from10 AM to 2 PM at the Downtown Fremont Event Center. The summit will bring together East Bay manufacturers, civic leaders, education, and industry partners to foster connections in supporting a more dynamic, resilient, and inclusive manufacturing ecosystem and regional economy. The event will feature panel discussions highlighting microclimates of innovation, cutting-edge workforce models, as well as international trade opportunities and supply chain considerations. SelectUSA Recap – During the week of June 22-26, East Bay EDA was honored to join the California delegation from the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) at the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Washington, D.C. This year marked the 10th annual summit with a record level of participation from over 5,000 attendees from 87 international markets and 56 states and territories. Throughout the 4-day summit, participants were able to take advantage of in-person networking and informative programming on key industry topics affecting the FDI community. Read more on the East Bay EDA blog.

Hire Hayward program – The City of Hayward launches “Hire Hayward” program to help major employers in industrial, advanced manufacturing, and biotechnology sectors meet their workforce needs while investing in the local community. When a participating business in one of these targeted industries hires an eligible Hayward resident, the Hire Hayward program helps cover on-boarding and on-the-job training costs. Learn more.

Funding Opportunities

 

CalCompetes Application Round Opens – The State of California is accepting applications for the California Competes Tax Credit starting July 22 through August 12. Information webinars on July 24 and August 1. Learn more.


State R&D Equipment Exemption – California manufacturers may qualify for a partial exemption from sales and use tax on the purchase or lease of qualified machinery and equipment primarily used in manufacturing, research and development, and electric power generation or production, storage or distribution. Learn more.
