East Bay Manufacturing Summit – Reserve your spot today for the East Bay Manufacturing Summit, taking place on Tuesday, October 29 from 9 AM to 2 PM at the Downtown Fremont Event Center. The summit will bring together East Bay manufacturers, civic leaders, education, and industry partners to foster connections in supporting a more dynamic, resilient, and inclusive manufacturing ecosystem and regional economy. The event will feature panel discussions highlighting microclimates of innovation, cutting-edge workforce models, as well as international trade opportunities and supply chain considerations. The Coolest Thing Made in California – Do you love a California-made product? Nominations are open for the Coolest Thing Made in California by the California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA). Nominated products must be made in California, but company HQ does not need to be in the state. Products nominated can be from any sector of the manufacturing industry, and a company can have multiple products nominated. Learn more and nominate today!
Distributed Bioindustrial Manufacturing Program (DBIMP) Awards – Two East Bay companies were recently announced as awardees for the Department of Defense (DoD) Distributed Bioindustrial Manufacturing Program, to expand the domestic supply of ingredients and materials for U.S. supply chains by building bioproduction infrastructure. Lygos in Berkeley and Visolis in Hayward were two of five companies announced by the DOD for awards totaling $9 million. Read the press release.

DOE Opportunity: Smart Manufacturing Technologies – This is a grant opportunity to accelerate the national clean energy transition in four proposal areas. For-profits, nonprofits, state/local gov, tribal entities and higher education are all eligible to apply – give the FOA a look here. Concept papers due August 22!
California Competes Application Final Round – The State of California is accepting applications for the California Competes Tax Credit through August 12. This will be the final round of funding for 2024. The next funding round will commence in January 2025. Learn more.
